Nicaragua- San Juan Del Sur

This past weekend. I took a bus from San Perdo, and traveled approximately 6 hours to the border of Costa Rica, where I took a taxi, 45 minutes to a place called San Juan Del Sur, in Nicaragua. When I first arrived, the view of the beach, I must say, was mesmerizing.Overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the tides were high and prefect to look at.We got a hotel called Encanto, which was adjacent to the beach, not even a 30 yard walking distance. The hotel was nice and hospitably , and for the price of 7 dollars a night,it was well worth it, especially seeing the view of the sunrise and sunset. There were lots of vendors with items such as pottery, necklessness, sunglasses, and clothing appeal. Along the strip which we stayed, the restaurants, bars, and casinos where all close together. The deals and specials on foods and drinks were affordable, and at times extremely cheap. The locals were very nice, and helpful in providing the services, we needed them. The most memorable part of the weekend, was when we took a fairly challenging hike up a hill to a religious statue, which was overlooking the beach, and whatever else below. I never actually made my way all the way to the top, but the hike and the view we got when we were walking up the trail was breathtaking. The night life was ok, a little bit disappointing for me, reminding me of spring break in college. The vibes was not to pleasing for me, and in the end, I was expecting more locals, instead of foreigners. I figured it would have made Nicaragua more authentic, instead of touristy. The water was cool and refreshing, and the tides were perfect for surfing. I got to see the scenery of the countryside on my way there and back. It was fairly spread out, full of fields and streams, and locals walking the streets, which gave off a country vibe. All and all, it was a great experience, seeing a different culture, and mingling with the locals. They diffidently made my stay enjoyable.
