Another Starlight Faded .........Legendary Singer Lena Horne
Many of you are familiar with many famous Jazz musicians, but this legend should not go unnoticed. Lena Horne had a soft enchanting voice that captured the hearts of many,which eventually brought her to the mainstream. She died yesterday at the age of 92. Lena Horne made her mark in the 1940´s, she was the first black entertainer, who was invited to play with a white band. Along with other first, she was the first to play the Copacabana nightclub and among a handful with a Hollywood films. In 1943, MGM Studios loaned her to 20th Century-Fox to play the role of Selina Rogers in the all-black movie musical “Stormy Weather.” Her recognition of the title song, became a major hit and her signature piece. We will miss this faded star, who shared her talent and illustrious voice to the world. I am going to post a video of one of her most famous piece to date. Thanks for the memories Lena. You will be missed.
