Distant Relatives is a collaborative album by rapper Nas and reggae artist Damian Marley. This album has the musical components of a hitmaker. Taken samples from African music, both artist sing about their shared ancestry, and their shared ancestry of a entire human race. The new album is empowering, and addresses real life situations affecting the black community. Many topics addressed in the latest album were: ancestry, poverty, and the plight of Africa. The first single, As We Enter, hit the top 100 billboard charts within its first week of release. I advise everyone to pick up a copy. Not for the support of the artist alone, but for the message they´re conveying in the music.
