How To Meditate On The Go

There was an interesting article I came across  in the am New York edition, about a world renowned teacher and author of "Secrets of Meditation: A Practical Guide to Inner Peace and Personal Transformation," davidji travels around the world helping others with stress management and personal life coaching. He was the dean at the Chopra Center University for a decade. I thought his article couldn't have come at a better time, because in the world we life today, stress seem to be building and its the dorm for those who can't control or battle the inner demons. I meditate frequently throughout the day and believe you me in relives a lot anxiety and stress in the body. Especially living in a busy city like New York, where some have been known to break and crack under pressure because the competition is fiercer and greater  here more than city around the world. There ways to cope with stress and don't allow it to control you. Davidji offers some really helpful tips on how to mellow out when becomes difficult all around you. He points out meditation is simply the progression quieting of the fluctuations of our minds,. He explains, When we can slow the swirl of 60,000-80,000 thoughts that flow into us each day, we are able to slow down our breathing our pulse, our blood pressure and lower our stress hormones, adrenaline and cortisol... We become more reflective and less reflexive, more purposeful and less knee-jerk, which leads to greater clarity , creativity and intuition . The stress starts to fall away. That's why so many people stop meditating- fear  of sticking to the rules. They are no rules-yo can meditate anywhere, under any circumstances. Subways are no exception when it comes to mediation.  Davidji has meditated in the middle of Times Square , at Madison Square Garden, at Ground Zero and at the top of the Empire State Building. Meditating on the train he adds is even more brilliant. Everyone is  either staring into space, reading the newspaper or listening to music. This he adds, is the perfect time to take your own personal "time in." I find his story very inspiring especially coming from a family where stress and high blood pressure plays apart in our circle. Since I am still young and in the pinnacle part of my youth I want to take control of my life now because the stress takes control of me. Plus its a positive way to feel good about ourselves and reject  the negative energy that is circulating around our universe. Its simple science actually, Gently close your eyes (don;t worry because everyone thinks your sleeping) and begin breath in and out for a few minutes and just witness it. Just watch as you inhale and watch as you inhale and watch as you exhale. Do that for five minutes That gentle disconnect in the nonstop swirl of activity is perfect. Other important techniques called 16 seconds to bliss. Observe your breath as you slowly inhale through your nostrils to the count of four. Then hold your breath in your belly to count of four. Then gently release the breath and follow it. .. to the count of four. Then hold the breath out to the count of four. Now return to regular breathing. In those 16 seconds you were neither in the past not the future. You were right here in this present moment.
