Farmers Market.... Zapote Costa Rica

I had a chance to check out the local farmers market today in downtown Zapote, in Costa Rica. Along with my friends, we took Sunday to explore the streets, and see what kind of fruits and vegetables the local vendors were selling. The market was fairly crowded, but still passable to explore the different variety of fruits and vegetables they had. The best part of the whole farmers market experience, was the  ridiculously  low prices. I had the chance to try some of the local fruits, bananas which were selling for 500.00 colones, which converted to $1 in dollars. The fruits we saw were ripe and sweet, and perfect in color and formation, perfect! because they were in season. We had a chance to taste some cantaloupe and watermelon, as the locals were nice and genuine enough to try their samples . One of my favorite moments, was having the opportunity to buy and try local Costa Rican cuisines. We ate many things from, Gallo Pinto, chicharrones, Empanadas, and natural blended fresco. My friends Travis and Florent brought coconut water for 2.00 colones, which was 50 cents, when converted into American dollars. The framers market is not also a great place to find great deals, but mingle and chat with locals,as they are welcoming of foreigners who venture around the local markets. I also had the chance to see some interesting people on my tour around the farmers market . People were hollering, luring whoever passed by. The best part of the afternoon, is when I saw a vendor by the side of a food charts, selling sweet coconut cake for 125 colones a piece, he was selling one of my favorite sweet goods. Persuading me to buy all six items he had available, and with his crazy and out there personality, it didn't take much convicing, as I went to a local ATM machine nearby, to withdraw some cash to by  the coconut cake from him. Going to the local farmers market, I realized you can  find very  interesting people, everyone enjoys the simple things in life, such as the companion of good company. The weather might not have been the best, but it was still a fun experience. Filled with fun and tranquility.
