Nobel Peace Prize Winner Barack Obama

The Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to President Barrack Obama, for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples. When I first heard the news, that Barack Obama was declared the winner, the first thought that came to mind was, for what! I have always look at the significance of this award as an honor, paying tribute to those before us, who made the human sacrifice, to make a difference in the lives of many. Giving up their own time and leisure, to fight for the rights of others. Look at those before us, well deserving of this prestigious award. Names such as Mother Teresa, Mohandas Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr, Nelson Mandela, who fought for human rights, and equality of others,who were suppressed in the system. In my mind, their resume speaks for itself, and their legacy will be forever solidified by their extraordinary leaps and bounds. This was acknowledged after the change or impact they fought so hard to solidify. For me, it was too early to determine if Obama was deserving of this award. How is his legacy marked? When he still has not made the promises needed for America to grow and flourish as a nation. As the current problems still lingers as we speak. During his acceptance speech as president, of the United States, he talked about the challenges and obstacles ahead, and the changes each individual will have to sacrifice, in order to bring changes,back to America. How the road ahead is not an easy one, but if we work together as one, then those changes will be made. For a man of great importance, who brings hope, to so many, how can one justify someone elses legacy, when their work has not yet been bridged, based on their concepts and ideas of how they want to be remembered. In the same breath, how can someone win this prestigious award, when wars are still being fought? I feel this award should be given, based on the person’s reflection, of what they did to deserve the war award. For me, observing with a keenful eye. I have to say, America still has ways to go. Ten month is not enough time to determine someones legacy.In the end, the award disrespects those before us, who made the human sacrifice, to afflict change, and bring new live, and hope to others over a long period of time.

In his latest film, Michael Jackson talks about the impact of his music, and the legacy he hopes to leave behind. Through his music, and innovate dance moves, his fans still remembers the joy and emotions he brought to so many. Even in death, his music lives on in the hearts of many.

Do You Believe In Capital Punishment?

Is capital punishment evitable for today's times? Most agree yes, while others have a different agreement.The Terms "An Eye for an Eye", "A Tooth for A Tooth, "Do Onto Others, As They Will Do Onto You", and the list goes on, Has raise the agreement, I say yes! why not re institutionalize capital punishment. For one thing, it will make criminals think twice for the action they are thinking committing. Another agreement stems from, why should I pay my hard earn money to support criminals and make them live with the consequence for what they have done. While the disagreement on the other side, states what if the DA or the jury convict an innocent person. and they no longer can prove their innocence because they are now dead. Also, in actually, the cost for capital punishment far exceeds the cost, taxpayers will pay to execute prisoners, than to imprison them for life. Considering, the higher pre-trial expenses, longer trials, jury sequestration, extra expenses associated with prosecuting a DP case, and the appeals process.Lastly,There’s the argument to be made, that death is too good for the worst criminals. Let them wake up and go to bed every day of their lives in a prison cell, and think about the freedom they don't have, until they rot of old age. Whatever your stand, everyone has the right to express their thoughts about capital punishment, because its our constitutional rights as citizen, and as human beings, to let the government know how we feel about capital punishment. Is Hip Hop Dead?

Hip Hop is more than thirty years old, but yet it continues to revolutionize a generation. It is a musical genre which developed alongside hip hop culture, and is commonly based on concepts of looping, rapping, free styling, DJing, scratching, sampling and beat boxing. The music is used to express concerns of political, social, and personal issues. Hip hop began in the Bronx in New York City in the 1970s, primarily among African Americans, with some Jamaican immigrant influence. Artist such as Public Enemy, Earth Wind And Fire, NWA, 2pac, Nas, and Biggie among others, setting the plateau for Hip Hop today. Its influence has reached races and genres throughout the world. Its artistic portal has given musical artist, the creativity, to take the stage, a voice!But some are beginning to wonder, is hip hop losing its creative competency? A legendary name in hip hop this year, has even written a song, asking today’s musicians to stop using auto tune. But has Hip Lost its creative juices? Or is it evolving into something different? Maybe its a matter of taste, while others have sparked a different argument, stating Hip Hop is alive and well, while many have said it died, when its legends past on. We all know, throughout the course of time, music is always evolving and taking form, so is it right to distinguish if something has no irrelevancy in modern times, or does the other side have a point, based on the origin and complacency. whatever it is, each generation justifies great music differently, and of course, there is the generational gap between parents and their children. Also, with the help of technologically, making things easier for society, who can’t stop and think, maybe it’s not the music itself that dies, but maybe the world itself is changing, so the taste and flavor changes, along with that generation. Should Columbus Day Be Obsereved?

This debate has been argued for quite some time now. Looking back at history, as much as 517 years ago, Christopher Columbus might have been indeed, the first European to set foot on the continent, but was he alone or where there others here before him. It all started on a voyage back in the early 1490s when many people still felt the world was flat, and if you sailed far enough into the sea, one can fall off the edge, failing to their doom, so Columbus along with his sailors took sail in 1492 on the Pinta and the Nina to test theory, that the world was indeed round and there is a shorter route to India, Spain and Japan, if you sailed westwards. King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella supported his plans, while others were scared and skeptical that the journey would not be completed. So in 1492 Columbus set sailed and reached San Salvador on October 12, 1492. When he first arrived he called the local people Indians, believing he was in India, he made numerous trips back and fourth from the Caribbean back to Spain. During his eight year voyage, Christopher Columbus was issued to go back and find gold and riches by the King and Queen. He did in fact find some, but it didn't cover the devastation he brought to the people of countries. His people brought diseases such as small pox, yellow fever, measles, and etc. The natives of the countries were either slaves or mistreated unfairly. Columbus did indeed accomplished his goals, but did he did it in a dignify way. In conclusion, I want to hear your thoughts and feedback, Should Columbus Day be observed?
