China Seeking To Control Its Culture

China  is now considered among the elites, when it comes to economic growth, and  military muscles, but the country's leadership is concerned about its vulnerability on a more nebulous front: culture.
The Chinese Government is trying  to clamp down on of content being broadcast on the airwaves and websites within the country.Its aim, to try and  promote Chinese culture and reduce outside influences. This same concept, which goes back to the same ideals, which Fidel Castro has been doing in Cuba for many years. The Chinese president, Hu Jintao, warned the Communist leadership  is not to loosen their grip on the country's cultural scene. The fear,  the Chinese government wants  to keep outside influences at bay. The Chinese government is worried, about the growing global influence of the US, because it wants to keep its culture strong. This upcoming year, its poses to restrict certain media programming and news , that is brought into the country from the international market. In doing so, China hopes that the  symbolism and the patriotism  of its country remains strong, and the morality and development of the youth remain intact.

Melvin The Mischievous Mongoose is a character that reveals the different periods of his early life, as he learns about himself , as well as others around him.           

Its great book for children between the ages of 5-9 years old.  It teaches important life lesson, we learn along the way as we become adults.

2011 A Year In Reflection.

2011 a year of extremes,






1) The capture of Osama Bin Laden, marked the begin of the end? or is it?



2) The Occupy Wall Street movement creates buzz in the financial district, and creates worldwide uproar, as citizens all over the world, take to the streets, their concerns, anger uncertainty  and frustration, for a new change. I diffidently think change is coming in 2012.


3) Ten Year Anniversary of 9/11. The 9/11 Memorial opens for the first time. As we mourn the victims on this day. I will never forget this day.



4) Japanese Tsunami kills millions, as the country rebuilds from one of the biggest natural disaster in its  history. The pictures and videos explained it all.



5) The fall of the dictator, Moammar Gadhafi, 42 year rule comes to an end. Still wondering why we were there in the first place.

Its A Wonderful Life -Christmas Classic

 Now that the Christmas season is here, When I think of Christmas classics , there is no other movie, that has been on re-runs, as much times, as it has, or has made such an immense imprint on future generation, such as Jimmy Stewart's, Its A Wonderful life. Told from a reverse chronology, it gives you something to think about, when it comes to life, and how one person can have an impact on many, whether he or she believes it . I think this movie especially relates to today, and the times we are going through, and some are even thinking about  throwing in the towel, gives us all something to reflect on, when it comes to the gift of life!!  I have watched this movie a dozen times, and each time I've watched it, I've come away with a different understanding about life itself. especially the end, when he reads a note saying, Remember no man is a failure who has friends. If you haven't watched it yet, your missing out. Its an epic, that is timeless, which never gets stale. If you haven't seen it yet, I recommend you do. Enjoy the clip!!

The Gift Of Giving

This Holiday season, I have decided to provide the biggest gift of all, Myself!!! These days, I think a lot of  us have forgotten that the biggest gift of all, comes from our hearts. In my local community, I volunteered at the local Salvation Army. As my Grandma use to tell me as a kid, there is no greater gift, than the gift of giving and helping God's people. This Thanksgiving and until Christmas, I will be doing all I can, collection donations, sorting if out food, and sorting out  clothes, to the less fortunate. In these times, we can't forget how important it is to touch the lives of those who can't have a Happy Thanksgiving or a Merry Christmas.  Especially for the youth, who don't have parents or guardians to look after them. For those of you, who live near a Salvation Army, please whether its a dime, one can of food, or an article of clothing, please donate something this year to the unpervilage. A family or person will be appreciative of your blessings. Thank you and have a Happy Thanksgiving and and Happy Holidays.

The Life of Jean-Michel Basquiat

When I  think of great artist of our time, their is one person, in my opinion that separates himself from the rest. Jean-Michel Basquiat, who is considered the best graffiti artist of our time. His career in art began as a graffiti artist in  New York city in the late 1970s, and in the 1980s produced Neo-expressionist painting. I've had the chance to check out the documentary about his life, and it seems, this man had unlimited potential, but with a  troubled past and the rise to fame, came paths that lead him to a dark road. At four years old, he was considered gifted and talented. At 15 he ran away from home, and started  supported himself by selling T-shirts and homemade post cards. In 1976, Basquiat and friends Al Diaz and Shannon Dawson began spray-painting graffiti on buildings in Lower Manhattan. Continuing, his activities as a graffiti artist, Basquiat often incorporated words into his paintings. Before his career as a painter began, he produced punk-inspired postcards for sale on the street, and become known for the political-poetical graffiti under the name of SAMO. His paintings are typically covered with text and codes of all kinds: words, letters, numerals, pictograms, logos, map symbols, diagrams and more. What I find fascinating about his work, was his ability to incorporate  the history of black people into his work, which many musical artist such as Madonna, Jay-Z give credit to  today. In his short life, he gave us paintings and impressions that last a life-time. That is why,  I  put him among the elites, such as Van Gogh and Picasso. Having the chance to study him in school and watch his latest documentary a radiant child . I diffidently think he was a child genius, who was ahead of his time, but he was too fragile for this world.
