Thanksgiving Trandition
Thanksgiving is a time for togetherness, and appreciating the things we are blessed with in life. It’s a time to forget the pity fights, and cruel, and come together and share the love, joy and splendor, but a new trend is evolving. This is known as greed! Over the past decades, the meaning of thanksgiving has disappeared, and new meaning called the needy consumer, has shown his ugly head. When I was a young child, I read books about the pilgrims and Indians, and how they came together to celebrate the first Thanksgiving, but today those anecdotes are becoming less and less transparent. It’s more focusing on day after thanksgiving. This is known as Black Friday. Everyone rushing to the stores the get the best deals on clothes and electronics. I see the ideal of family disappearing, and more people are taking a selfish approach. Many might say, but wait! I am doing this for the spite of the Christmas and holidays season, so I can provide gifts for my family and friends. Look at the hardships we are facing on the global spectrum. We need to start spending less money and start spending time with each other, because over spending was the reason why we got us in the global rescission in the first place. I believe as a society, we need to reevaluate our priorities so the stressful times won’t be so depressing. Just as the Indians and Pilgrims came together without monetary motivations, I believe we can learn from their examples, so times of together will bring more joy happiness to the homes of many Americans, otherwise, times of hardships will get worse, and the foundation of the American families will be lost.
